Hugh asks a good question in this post....what's next?
it's good to see him thinking ahead because blogging will change as
more people begin to see the values in the medium and more people begin
to blog.
however, i am not certain blogging is close to a tipping point just
yet....sure, technorati is tracking over 5 million blogs, but the
medium is still relatively under utilized....the majority of blogs are
personal journals of thoughts/feelings that aren't necessarily directed
to any one audience...while there is personal value in capturing
feelings on line...blogs can/should be much more than a group of random
thoughts/pictures...blogs have the ability to greatly change the manner
in which people communicate....blogs break the push communication
method and creates a pull enviroment...like a magnet, people are pulled
toward good blogs providing the ability to establishing a
community....the community can be less than 3 and as big as the
blogosphere....the topics within the community and the processes used
for communicaton are only limited by the imagination of the bloggers....
so Hugh, don't get bored just yet....use your creativity and take
blogging in directions unheard of....there are several more iterations
of blogging before it gets boring....somehow, i imagine you will still
be leading the charge 2 or 3 years from now....
