Quixote's stables (no, not the Augean ones... that may get me in trouble :) )

Finally had some time last nite to read thru some of the poker mags I picked up. I started with ALL IN... I think it may be an older copy, since it's dated Jan/Feb and its already the middle of March, when I'd expect a new copy to already be out.

Btw, I love the middle of the month, but my postman hates me. Now gracing the bathroom magazine rack: Stuff, Maxim, Esquire, Newsweek, PopSci, Game Developer (I have no idea how I got on their mailing list), PC Gamer, FHM, Playboy, Latina, Smithsonian, American Heritage, Family Fun (I think my grandma signed me up for this one; the sub doesn't expire til 2008!), Dwell, and AD. Good thing I recycle.

Anywho, AI won't make it to the bathroom since I'd hate for the pages to be warped when taking a too hot shower in there. It's nicely laid out, interesting... etcetc but I swear that it is a nicely branded hype for tilting at windmills/quixote's room-- (almost) every one of their paid spokepeople is represented in here, in print, as a subject of a story, photo layout, ad campaign (related to quixote or not) or author. Don't get me wrong, they aren't the only pros in here, but they make up a good 50-70%+ of content... and the "Editor's Letter" is topped off with a pic of Bhu and seven of the quixote stable. And quixote runs more ads in the mag than any other sponsor.

Poking thru I convinced myself that there had to be some secret ::winkwink:: thing going on here btw AI & quixote, but maybe not. It's a good move on quixote's part either way: propping up their studs in a glossy mag will surely get the heifers huffing, and some of that goodwill has got to trickle down like Prof Boyd said it would. I can't find anything specific, and since this is the first (second? I saw a bennifer one but it wasn't dated)... maybe it's a fluke.

Maybe something... there's a general air of huffiness on the forums about ppl not receiving their ALL IN subscriptions for this month (Mar/Apr). Who knows, but I hope all the subscribers don't get screwed out of their purchase prices.

It's a nice mag, but if you know me I have no use for learning to play poker :) The hopeless have no hope. I think it'll make up part of a contest I'll run eventually... semantics and maladjustments aside :)
