Nerve: Which lies were the most common?
Steven D. Levitt, Freakonomics: Oh, the usual: money, looks, etc. It's very common for men to say they make more money than they do. It's very common for women to say they are better-looking than they really are, and that they weigh less than they actually do. Men lie more about height than weight. In truth, the daters are overall pretty savvy in their lies, since they seem to have a good grip on what works and what doesn't.

Nobody says this out loud, but men sometimes cheat because they are romantic. They want to feel the intensity of a new sexual entanglement. Many women will forgive them for a somehow-it-just-happened affair, once it's over. But suppose a man plans an affair in advance, calculating every move in cold blood - including how and when to end it. Would any woman ever forgive a guy for such creepy behaviour?

Nerve.com: I recently started an email correspondence with a flirtatious acquaintance, only to discover that she can't spell. I found myself so obsessed with mentally correcting her mistakes that I barely got the message that she wants to hook up. Am I being petty? Or do I need and deserve someone who won't misspell "deserve" three different ways in one email?
