Book Reviews from 'Get Your Paws on a Good Book' participants
Chasing Destiny by Eric Jerome Dickey: I was so into this book that it was crazy. I woke up in the morning reading it. A couple of times, I had to force myself to close the book just to get some rest. There are so many twists and turns that I was left shaking my head. I dislike the ending. It left me wondering what happened to Destiny, Raheem, and Billie. Might there be a sequel? I hope so.
High Tide by Jude Deveraux: I enjoyed the book--you never knew what was coming next.
Faerie Wars by Herbie Brennan: (read for granddaughter) She really liked it but wasn't able to read it all before she left.
Ex-girl to the Next Girl? by Daaimah S. Poole: 'Ex-Girl to the Next Girl' is a satisfying sequel to 'Got a Man'. That is a fast paced read that grabs the reader's attention. The characters are ones that you can relate to, but the ending leaves unanswered questions, could there by a part 3? Either way, this is one sequel that delivers.
The Betrayal by Beverly Lewis: This book is very interesting by showing the way religion played a very strong role in the Amish live.
Color Me Dark by Patricia McKissack: This book was about a young black girl who lived through the 1919 Chicago riots, who lived and survived race wars.
Malcom X by Megan Stine: Malcom X was the most inspiring books ever written.
Upstate by Kalisha Buckhanon: Enjoyed the male and female readers but soon tired of the story being told just through their letter correspondence. Did not complete book.
Sour Puss by Rita Mae Brown: I so enjoy her mysteries! Not gory, never tingling descriptions of certain crimes. Also, giving her much loved animals, two cats and ond dog inclusieve 'help' in solving the cases.
American Negro Short Stories by John H. Clarke: Very interesting group of short stories.
Boy2girl by Terence Blacker: It's about a 12 year old boy who is dared to start a new school posing as a girl. Everyone thinks he's a girl.
Camel Club by David Baldacci: It was a good read (listen), it has a good flow and kept my interest. I had a couple of elements that were hard to accept as plausible. The characters were good and ones to root for. It did raise some new (for me) perspectives on terrorism. It gave no answers.
