Seattle for Lunch
Daughter and I flew to Seattle Wednesday for lunch. What fun!!!
Now, "the rest of the story" as you would have it.
Daughter needed 2600 miles to reach the coveted Gold MVP status with Alaska Airlines. So off we went Wednesday---using her mileage for my ticket. It was a fabulous 20 hour day, which included 6 hours of air time and 2 2/1 hours of airport time and miles of walking.
We arrived downtown Seattle just in time for lunch. We walked from 4th down to 1st for lunch at Cafe Compagne, her favorite place for lunch.
After sitting at lulnch it was walking, walking, and walking.
We walked through part of Pike Street Market, on to her special coffee place and to a shop for pumpkin cookies.
Then it was up hill to 5th and Restoration Hardware. Along the way Daughter introduced me to the Fluevog shoe store. Such fun. I fell in love with a pair and have ordered the correct size.
We took a cab to REI to look for a couple of items. Daughter couldn't find what she wanted and I didn't want to stand in line for 30 minutes to pay for what I wanted. After leaving REI to all the other after-Christmas outdoorsy shoppers, Stephanie walked back to the main part of town and the public library for geocaching.
On the way we stopped at a camera shop that was a couple blocks off our route where Daughter found a camera case for her new camera. We also made a sit-down coffee stop. At the library we were unable to locate the geocache in the second niche from the north so we walked down the hill to below 1st for rug shopping.
The spiffy new useable-art glass top coffee table requires a solid area rug under it rather than the current figured oriental rug. We totally lucked out at the second store.
Next we hiked a number of blocks to the Elliot Bay bookstore where Daughter replenished her month's supply of reading and I left with only one new book.
Now, it was another long hike up the hill and along toward the main part of town to her favorite dinner restaurant, Wild Ginger. After a marvelous meal we hiked several blocks to the Four Seasons hotel for a taxi to the airport.
By the time we boarded the plane to come home, I was more than willing to sit for three hours. Thursday, even the muscles in my feet were sore, but it was all well worth the very special day!
