It's Saturday!
We didn't have a speaker at World Affairs this Friday. The weeks without a speaker are a true gift and an opportunity to catch up on things that have found their way to the bottom of the pile and/or the To Do List---catching up on membership acknowledgement letters, processing credit cards, visiting the bank about our credit card machine, creating and delivering membership lists to the membership chairman, going to the printer to order new stationery, changing out the logos on all the email and desktop documents that go out, etc.
I finished blelnding/combining the Decoding section content from the two Slingerland text books I and II. It is ready to send to the Slingerland teacher trainers for a content check and to the copy editor so she can work her magic. I've slightly started the next section, Preparation for Reading. It should go fairly quickly, but I said that about Visual Cards and Decoding before I started them. It's everything else that gets in the way of quickly finishing a section. I did a lot of work on the Decoding section in September then didn't get back to it until the end of December. This project needs to move along faster than a snail's pace.
The post card and email announcement for next Friday's speaker, Skip Schiel, have been created and sent. His topic, Gaza Scorched and Squeezed, leaves little doubt about his point of view.
