The Week That Was---6/18/-6/22/07
THE MARKETS
All the Indexes fell 1% or more on Friday. (So, I have to look at all the down arrows and red figures this weekend.)
COMPANY ITEMS OF INTEREST
Visa Card is going to play catch up and follow Mastercard's lead and go public.
The NYSE and the London Stock Exchange are bidding against each other for the Italian stock exchange, Borsa Italiana. (After 150 years of limited changes, the stock exchange world is turning itself upside down with changes.)
Jones Apparel is selling Barneys (We receive their catalogue.) to a private equjity company in Dubai. (I've always been interested in who owns what.)
Will Walgreen, CVS and Wal-Mart accept unlimited Medicare patients in their in-store healthcare clinics? Will someone 65 and older be able to pay cash for care? (It has become more and more difficult to find a doctor in Anchorage who will take Medicare patients or patients approaching Medicare age. Health care and a doctor for 65 and older people is something cash can't buy!!!)
May the Market Be Up Next Week.
