Ecuadorian Olympic champion Jefferson Perez won the 20 kilometers walking-race on Friday, just a second ahead of his compatriot Ricardo Saqupay.
On his website Jefferson points out that in 2003 he made won the Pan-American Games in Dominican Republica and 15 days later in Paris won the World Championship setting the current world record.
