XP has big problems -- in addition to slow adoption -- why would you use an operating system that the FBI is telling you how to install? [je.IT]

Steve Silberman: The Geek Syndrome. I feel so busted, I identify with so many of the symptoms of Asperger and see some of them in my daughter. I scored a 26.7 on the Autism-Spectrum Quotient or AQ, which is a measure of the extent of autistic traits in adults. In the first major trial using the test, the average score in the control group was 16.4. Eighty percent of those diagnosed with autism or a related disorder scored 32 or higher.

If you are interested enough to read the entire article and take the AQ Test you're probably one of us dude....we are borg?

Concerts to Raise Money for Battle Against Record Companies. Major publishers and record labels - such as the RIAA - present themselves as fighting for the rights of creative artists. So why are some big name acts - including Elton John, No Doubt, Billy Joel, Stevie Nicks, Weezer, Dixie Chicks, Ozzy Osbourne and the Eagles - staging a series of five benefit concerts to fund a fight against the recording industry? Because artists, they say, are not getting their share of the royalties. Now this fight may be between musicians and record labels, but professors who are signing content deals with publishers ought to take note... because it's a lot harder for professors to fill concert hall with paying customers. Major server admin work this afternoon. I updated the servers to get the latest 10.1.2 version of OS X, then I wrote a script to automagically forward the ports on the server to the Frontier server. Now when something really bad happens, the machine can restart itself and come back to life without human intervention.

For friends and some selected family members I'm creating 'category' websites with Radio. Each of these sites will contain personal messages and links that are meant just for that person. Each site will have a vanity url ofcourse and I'm writing a callback that will notify each person by email if something new has been posted or if a new document has been upstreamed on their personal newssite....

I've been thinking about some special gifts this year for my friends and family. For the family, that I rarely keep in contact with, I am contemplating building a special family-Manila site. The plan is to divide family tree branches into 'departments' (as they're labled in manila) and enable the news feature. This way we can share stories, pictures and links. Email has been tried several times over the years, but I think the act of writing and addressing an email to the entire family is pretty daunting, especially because you only get one shot at the content and context :-) Anyone try this with their family?

This morning Christina let out a yelp of joy. I snapped a pic as soon as I could. Will we be fortunate enough to have a real old fashioned White Christmas this year?
