  • All this noise about copy protection, CD's that crash your pc, mice that want to put traps in your audio and video equipment. No matter what protection schemes are implemented or how many laws are made to stop 'illegal' copying, nothing will stop humans from copying.
  • It's in our genes, we're born and raised by copying behaviour and language from our parents and peers and heroes. It is in fact how we evolve.
  • What if we're all barking up the wrong tree, what if there is no tree?
    • No law, or technology has surfaced that is guaranteed to stop 'thieves' from copying and distributing content. This holds true for software as well. Lets face it, if the software technologists can't protect their 'content' from being ripped mixed and burned, then there sure as hell ain't no way for Hollywood to do it!
    • Perhaps after 50 years of content producers exploiting their products by applying the laws of supply and demand, mankind built the internet and all those wonderful digital tools as a Darwinistic evolution to break the distribution barriers.
      • Maybe the pendulum is swinging back, slicing a new path that must be examined carefully.
      • The genie just might be out of the bottle, with no recourse for the incumbent distribution based revenue streams.
  • Television should try some new ideas too. I'm all for getting rid of interruptive advertising every 7.5 minutes. Integrate your message into the content. The Hallmark Movie of the Week is clear to the consumer and works well for the sponsor. Have the US Army (one of the largest advertisers in the US) sponsor anything remotely related to war and death.
    • Only one catch, you can't call yourself a television station. If you integrate your content with commercial messages you must identify yourself as Sellavision.

      • Movie of the Week didn't really disappear - let's say it bred - Hallmark has their own cable channel now

Another perfect example of RSS in action: Over at RotorJet we're using xml feeds to notify customers of Last Minute Booking availability. When will the 'Bigs' figure it out?

Writing this morning. Couple meetings later on and Unico is dropping by later this evening. Patricia called from NY, they're having a great time. Cool.

I'm always sad when a weblog I'd like to track doesn't have an xml or RSS feed ;(
