> Al Hawkins: There needs to be a default template that it loads quickly and doesn't choke Netscape; you can always select a more "design-intensive" template after you get going, and a very basic template is a great place to begin building your own website. You don't need a lot of table tags and spacer gifs getting in the way of the learning experience. Like Jeff says, themes fuck with your site.

> Dave Winer: A picture named citizen.gifThe Frontier Scripting Tutorial came out on this day in 1998. It was written by Matt Neuburg and adapted by Brent Simmons. I just reviewed it. It's a little out of date, but it's a very good tutorial for Web scripting. Both Matt and Brent are excellent writers who really care about the subject. There should be a few nuggets there for Radio newcomers.

> Judging by their bizarro urls, the Do It Yourself Network uses Vignette. I seriously doubt that they configured their own cms. More likely they shelled out serious dinero for a small army of consultants. And I shudder to think what their license agreement looks like. Do you think support and upgrades are included? Somebody needs to tell them about Radio.
