> David Singer: Lately, it seems that every time I try to flip my page, ETP is down. I guess it really is time to install Radio Userland and start blogging that way.

> The Heart of Things: Perhaps that's why he links to Zeldman, James Spahr, Owen Briggs, Dave Polaschek, Dave Dombrowski, Austin Burbridge, John Brooks, Brent Simmons -- each of whom argues persuasively in favor of using CSS for layout. Dave asks for a designer to write a Table-less CSS Templates for Newbies. Tony Collen has responded with a CSS Koolaid for Newbies, a succinct overview of the CSS vs. Tables issue that's a great starting point for anyone wanting to learn more.

> Mark Pilgrim: I heard through the grapevine that this CSS layout or something quite similar is going to find its way into the next version of Radio.

> Hey, Steven, does this look better? I added a "style='text-align:left'" attribute to the table cell containing my bodyText (this column). Dig we must!   5:26:40 PM  Link
> I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the bandwidth and disk-space saving potential of using CSS rather than font and table tags. The potential is enormous if the style sheets are linked (so that the browser can cache them separately) rather than included in every page. The down side is that CSS adds a layer of complexity that's sure to baffle newbies... Me? I got rid of my font tags. Tables will be next. Then maybe a cool style switcher! ;-)   4:42:12 PM  Link
> Mark Pilgrim: Intersecting the topic of the day by sheer coincidence, I spent most of last night implementing a theme switcher and several different themes for this site... No server-side code: it's all done with CSS, Javascript (to select the given CSS file), and cookies (to save and restore your preference).

> Craig Saila: Liquid — A term to describe a style of Web page layout, meaning the layout is entirely flexible, filling the browser window as it expands or contracts.

Yes! I like liquid!   8:27:43 AM  Link
