Drivel:  A colleague of mine is now at Ebiz helping them plough forward in the high-performance computing space.  Very cool stuff.  Check out their Terian HPC line of machines.  These machines pretty much come Grid ready and clusterable out of the box.  From what he tells me, there are more great things to come for this line as they integrate FPGAs.  They also have a firewall product, their Terian TCP line, that he claims out performs the Nokia/Checkpoint Firewall products.  This is truly amazing.  Todate, the Nokia/Checkpoint Firewalls have been some of the best performing security products on the market.  9:07:35 PM   comments ()

Drivel:  I really hate managing people.  The whole notion of managing people assumes that they are alreadying doing something wrong or will inevitably do something wrong.  People exist that do need to be managed because they have not been properly educated in basics of working with others.  There really should be classes in high-school like "How to prevent yourself from being managed at work".  Business schools should teach courses in preventative management.  People get off course only when there is not a clear understanding of the task at hand, unclear leadership, and/or miscommunication.  All of it boils down to balancing communication and leadership -- there must be an equilibrium.  8:49:18 PM   comments ()

Drivel:  Finding time to post these days is difficult.  There are so many things to do and accomplish that mean revenue that it seems like only Sunday afternoons are left for personal development, research, and fun writing.  There is something wrong with this that needs to be fixed.  8:40:15 PM   comments ()

Drivel:  Project, project, projects.  This is the way of the world.  There are no more products, just projects.  Products are projects that have been completed and need a diet of time and expenses to stay alive.  Next generation products are nothing more than new projects leveraging the foundation that was developed in the last project.  8:38:30 PM   comments ()
