Drivel: I am beginning to develop some basic rules of life. I have pretty much lived my life by a single rule but am finding that it isn't enough. That rule is "you can do anything you set your mind to." There are some fundamental problems with this rule. First, it is true. You really can do anything you set your mind to. Second, it is adictive. Once you do something that you set your mind to, you want to do it again because it feels good. Pretty soon you are doing so many things that everything begins to fade together. Third, it is very self centered. This rule does not take into consideration the world beyond you.
I would like to propose a rule set to live my life by. Rule 1: Know your limits and constantly try to expand them in a positive manner. Rule 2: Do what you say you are going to do when you say you are going to do it. Rule 3: Never ask anyone to do something that you would not be willing to do yourself. This is a start. A number of other rules are popping into my mind, but they are not very well thought through. The key is to keep it simple. These three rules I have been running into a lot lately. 12:11:35 AM
