Drivel:  A few more things about EMC Control Center 5.0.3.  First, once you set the IP address of a machine running one of the infrastructure components, do not change it.  Each infrastructure component generates certificates for its host based on the IP information.  I found no way to generate new certificates, at least no way in the EMC documentation that they would support.  If you change the IP address of one of your hosts you will have to reinstall the component on that host.  If the component happens to be the ECC Server, the odds are that you will have to reinstall all components and rebuild the entire management platform from scratch.  4:22:04 PM   comments ()

Drivel:  I have been subscribed to Crypto-Gram for almost a year now and have not taken the time to read an entire issue until today.  This has got to be one of the best newletters I am subscribed to.  It is funny, insightful, and very useful.  I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get a solid, rapid understanding of security and the surrounding issues.  1:07:02 PM   comments ()

Drivel:  I was just reviewing the Akamai Technologies 10-Q.  Akamai is one of my favorite companies.  This past quarter they lost their CFO, downsized to about 550 employees, got massively diluted in some of their investments, added $1m to existing restructuring liabilities, and settled with CNN for $2.7m in cash and $3.8m in a letter of credit.  To top it off, revenue fell 17% for the quarter.  It looks like their days are numbered, but who will pick up the assets, particularly their patents, when it is all done?  My money is on IBM.  12:31:51 PM   comments ()
