Non-GSM networks at 3GSM World Congress
The 3GSM World Congress that just concluded in Cannes was all about -- surprise! -- GSM around the world. However, a fair number of wireless products and services were discussed and exhibited that were not based upon the GSM protocol. Wireless LANs is one of those technologies. Cellular operators, as I've noted, are getting very interested in 802.11 -- either as a potential competitor or as a potential complementary service.
Computerworld just posted a short article about non-GSM networks discussed in Cannes, and I'm quoted in it.
