Apple, Jaguar, Rendezvous and WiFi

At its Worldwide Developer Conference on May 4, Apple discussed a new version of OS X, code-named "Jaguar," which includes "Rendezous" to facilitate computer connections, wired and wireless.  I'm a Windows person (not a fanatic about it, and the new 800 MHz TiBook looks awfully good!), but Apple was a pioneer in the use of 802.11 for its computers when most people didn't know what the compay was talking about.

According to an article posted on maccentral.com, "Jaguar will also come with Rendezvous, Apple's proposed new industry standard for automatic discovery of computers, devices and services on IP (Ethernet, AirPort) networks.  In other words, the technology will let Macs automatically recognize other computers on a wired or wireless network and share files with each other or, theoretically, with other digital devices.  In his keynote, [Steve] Jobs demoed streaming music files off of another Mac connected through an AirPort network."

This is right up the alley of Glenn Fleishman, keeper of the 802.11b Networking News Weblog and "Practical Mac" columnist for The Seattle Times.  Glenn, is "Rendezvous" any big deal for WiFi users?
