Alwin expounds about folks conducting business with clue: * Well, that was pointless yet long, wasn't it? Gee, I thought it was an allegory about the RIAA... 8:16:24 PM [] blah blah blah'd on this [ blinked via ViewFromTheHeart ]
Letter from RIAA CEO Hilary Rosen to industry execs about P2P firms (9/25/01) I have never used p2p software to violate music copyrights. That said, there is a growing amount of data that indicates this activity may actually drive sales -- perhaps the real problem is that the BigMusicCos notion of marketing (rigid categorization, ClearComm uberFormatted radio stations, ...) is no longer a good fit for the people who *are* willing to make purchases? The pirates will pirate anyway. However, there's no need to punish your good customers (PAYING! Hello?!?) and treat them like criminals. Sometimes you really didn't want to get a glimpse behind the curtain, but it can help you realize how you might want to spend your money...
The arrogance and (apparent lack of) thought processes behind this call to action are very frightening. Scary little minds, with little beady eyes, horribly in need of a ride on the Cluetrain... 12:01:28 PM [] blah blah blah'd on this
