The Festa Season started with a parade in Buhach.

The Gustine City Band had a strong showing with a number of new musicians. The parade to the church was short and sweet and only about a block long. The return parade, however, travelled down Buhach Road to a random point and then returned to the hall. As usual, additional marching in the sun is always appreciated.

To make the job, our day started at 6:00. After the Festa, we went to Newman for Mother's Day greetings and a light dinner. We made it back to San Jose about 11:30. And I wonder why I am tired today.

Next week is Dos Palos.

BART-to-S.J. advantages in doubt

New ridership projections from the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority suggest BART's impact on commutes would be so small that most people would hardly notice a difference.

After years of being a proponent of the brain-dead BART to San Jose debacle. The San Jose Mercury News discovers that the proposal may not be that great after all. The new studies point out several problems with the proposal and indicates that ridership will be below capacity and will not reduce congestion on our freeways. The studies also realized that the proposed BART route avoids the concentration of jobs in North San Jose and on the Peninsula.

The new studies verify what I have been saying all along. BART to San Jose along this route doesn't make sense. At $4.1 billion, it is too expensive and takes money from better, more efficient transit projects.

Maybe now people will start to listen.
