Halt BART extension. In a blistering critique of local transit management, Santa Clara County's civil grand jury on Friday recommended suspending the $4.2 billion BART project to San Jose and disbanding the ... [San Jose, CA - Topix.net]
In potentially its most devastating conclusion, the grand jury said continuing to pursue the planned 16.3-mile BART extension "may be to the detriment of an integrated transportation network throughout the region'' because the agency is sacrificing other transit projects to protect the local contribution for the BART project
This story is finally getting some traction. Last month the Mercury News pointed out that new projected ridership numbers revealed that the proposal will not significantly reduce freeway congestion (one of the main selling points for Measure A in 2000). Now the Grand Jury thinks that VTA should halt the BART extension and radically change the VTA Board of Directors.

Hopefully, it will also open voters eyes to the fact that they were sold a lemon in 2000. Once that happens, we can start figuring out away out to this mess.
