I got back from the little Giants (San Jose) win in time to see the big Giants put away the Dodgers. This is a good night.

The little Giants buried the Stockton Ports 9-1. The Giants' pitchers threw strikes, while Stockton's pitchers had trouble finding the plate. Stockton pitcher Ben Kozlowski gave up 4 walks in 4 innings and went long in the count to most batters. The bullpen wasn't much better.

In contrast, the Giants' pitchers struck out eleven and allowed only one run. It was a great job and an enjoyable game.

San Jose Mayor Supports BART Extension. Gonzales has yet to read in detail the grand jury's report, but he mayor told KCBS reporter Ron Naso in San Jose that the report wouldn't change his mind. [San Jose, CA - Topix.net]

"These projects are very long in the making," Gonzales said. " This is a very large extension. To get it done takes a lot of leadership and vision."

Holding on to a lost cause is not leadership. Ignoring the ramifications is not vision.

In 2000, most of the pro-transit organizations fought the BART to San Jose proposal. They reasoned that it cost too much, the proposed route had insufficient ridership, and building it jeopardized existing and pending transit options.

Four years later, these assessments are being validated.

In a perfect world, the current BART to San Jose proposal would be DOA. In a perfect world, our politicians would realize that the proposed route doesn't deliver riders and doesn't go where people need to go. In a perfect world, they would stand up and say, "This doesn't make sense".

Of course, we don't live in a perfect world. So our mayor says,

"These projects are very long in the making. This is a very large extension. To get it done takes a lot of leadership and vision."
