I was hoping this election postponement story would be denied by Ridge today.  It wasn't.  The thinking behind this is clearly a combination of the fear of a repeat of Spain (where a conservative government was ousted) and the success of the hand-over of power in Iraq (where a last minute shift in the date reduced attacks).  Frankly, we shouldn't do it.  Any attempt at outcome engineering is doomed to failure and will damage the country. [John Robb's Weblog]

This is the story that I have been fearing for quite some time. The promise of elections every four years may be the only thing that holds this country together. With that promise, no matter how awful an administration is, we can change it before it irreparably damages the nation. Reneging on that promise for any reason, is a curse on our constitution and our people.

The fact that the current administration would even consider this, declares their unworthiness to fill the office.

228 years ago we declared independence from King George. I fear we may need to do it again.
