
It looks like the low pressure system that has been walking down the coast for the last week may finally be moving on, though southern California may get hammered for another day. Hopefully, as the system breaks down and moves on the weather statements, watches, and warnings will no longer dominate my science headlines.

An interesting thing to note is that the last time we had a system stroll down the coast like this (May 1998), a tornado set down in Sunnyvale. Yesterday, funnel clouds were observed in Sacramento (though none touched down). While two data points doesn't say much, I am going to keep watching these systems.
