When the "I turned my G5 into an Athlon because I really wanted a Dell" story turned out to be a hoax, one of the comments was "Boy, those Mac people are attached to their machine!"

My first reponse to that observation was "well, duh!"

I've had many PC's, and they all felt like interchangeable tools. A friend likened them to the cheap ass tool you use in a dangerous situation because you don't want to destroy the good one. I've had 4 Mac's, and I've been attached to each one. Each one has infected me somehow.

I've always hated it when people say this, but you either get it or you don't. You don't understand what it's like until it happens to you.

If someone else figured out how to bottle that experience up and sell it, they'll be rich.
