[The following posts grew out of my homesickness for some features in Manila that I really miss in Radio. Sure, I could always just use Manila, but I am determined to learn more about Radio.]  4:07:30 PM

Reverse Chronological Posting.

The posts below this one don't make as much sense as they would if Radio gave the user a way to determine the order that posts would display on a page. For example, say you want to post 3 separate items, and you want them to appear as a list. Say you want to number those items from 1 to 3. (Please try to follow along here. I'm not talking about html ordered lists).

For this to work in Radio, you have to post the third item first, then the second, then the first. I wonder if it is possible to post to my Radio blog from the outliner that is built into Radio? If that were possible, it would solve the reverse chronological posting issue because then the user could re-arrange their posts at will.  4:02:41 PM

Hmmm. I guess Scripting News is a shortcut in Radio.

OK, Dave you got me there. Let's try this one: "White House".

If Radio had user definable shortcuts, I could define "White House" to appear as White House when I type those words in quotes into my Radio blog.

Hey, wait a minute. Wasn't there a big fuss when Microsoft implemented Smart Tags in Internet Explorer? Isn't Scripting News a sort of Userland Smart Tag? Hmmm?  3:55:28 PM

Shortcuts.

That is another feature in Manila that I really miss. If you haven't used Manila, shortcuts are a way to define certain words to become hyperlinks when your type quotes around them in your text.

For example, if I were to define Scripting News to be a shortcut, the words in quotes above would become Scripting News when I posted them to my blog.

I sure miss shortcuts.  3:49:06 PM

What happened to Clay compatibility?

With Manila, there is a "Clay Compatibility" setting where if you type this: --- You get this horizontal rule:

I sure miss that.  3:45:36 PM

I remember this MORE ad! ---  3:42:32 PM

Kevin Mitnick was on TechTV this morning. I didn't know he was out of the slammer.

He looked like your average geek and talked intelligently about the futility of Microsoft's recent efforts to secure their OS. When asked a question about the Internet, he was quick to point out that he is not allowed to use the Internet.

The thing that struck me was how normal he seemed. He didn't come across as the villian hacker that some have made him out to be. Read more at The Screensavers.

I stopped at at McDonald's for breakfast this morning. The guy at the window who handed me my change had a tatoo of a marijuana leaf on the back of his hand where his thumb and forefinger meet.

I don't know what the store manager was thinking, but I would have to be really hard-up to hire someone with a highly visible marijuana tatoo to work directly with my customers.

I guess I'm old fashioned, but men with earrings, long fingernails, and anyone with a nose ring, tounge piercing, or purple hair would be out too. So sue me.  1:38:31 PM

Mac OS X Tip of the Day: Dock Tricks

Command-Tab cycles through running apps. Keep the command key help down and press tab to highlight each app in turn. When you lift off the command key, that app will activate. There's a couple of other cool things too. When an app is highlighted, you can press 'h' to hide that app and 'q' to quit the app. Try it - you'll like it.
