The Revolution Will Be Televised. What happens when digital video recorders give viewers control of the TV schedule, the content and the ads? The whole world is watching. By Frank Rose from Wired magazine.
I have a working MythTV system - it's cool beans. One feature that I love is the fact that ads are automatically skipped. I had thought about another ReplayTV or a TiVo, but they can't and won't offer the ability to just completely skip ads. It's cool beans to just record whatever you want to see and play it without any commercial breaks. One minor problem with it is that you have to remind yourself that it's time for a break and just walk away from it.
Setting up a MythTV system takes a little effort... but it's cool beans when you finally see it working. I'm still putzing around with mine and the remote isn't quite right for Maureen yet... but it's coming along very nicely.
