Space Station Crew Photographs of Hurricane Isabel.
There are a few more breathtaking images available from the Johnson Space Center (including a really high-res version of the picture to the right.) It’s so pretty from above, and such a bastard up close. Good luck to those of you on the U.S. east coast.

Interesting article on RAW vs JPEG format images.
Using our Canon D60, I photograph mostly to JPEG files, but once in a while I'll switch over and use RAW images. RAW images take some time to process using Photoshop and the Raw Image converter... but the results can really be great. I was wondering around Dean Park a few months ago and took some stunning pictures of a goose using RAW format images. But no one really sees that - all they see are the printed pictures.

Any contingent of foreign troops that may go to Iraq will be small, and pressure on U.S. forces is likely to remain intense. By Michael R. Gordon.
Not great news here... but there was one paragraph that stuck out at me:
According to United States Army plans, the arrival of a new multinational division would be used to plug the gap in and around Mosul after the 101st Airborne Division left northern Iraq in February or March. This is also an area with an ethnic mix that makes it more hospitable to peacekeeping troops and that has benefited from the 101st's arduous efforts to organize new Iraqi local governments and initiate projects to rebuild the local infrastructure.
Our pastor (Steve) is with the 101st division new Mosul. We've been praying for the setting of an ending date. The above paragraph suggests that the plan is that they might be coming hope in Februrary or March. Not definitive, but at least this is more detail than we've heard so far.
