-So.....the ease of use of weblogs has been festering and growing in my mind.....especially in comparsion with e-mail and list-servs, HOWEVER...(more thoughts below) -i found several sites that describe weblogs and i like the following: http://www.lights.com/weblogs/definitions.html -Last time i had asked the difference between e-mail and list-servs versus weblogs.... -Cyprien pointed out that students were asked "to keep weblogs of the project they completed in the summer. These exist on the web and can be referred to by the next set of students. If these had been in a listserv, finding and forwarding all of the original messages might be a time consuming task". Hmmmm very interesting, BUT, how easy will it be to search a weblog that has existed for x number of months or years? -Cyprien mentioned (if i understood him correctly) that there has been some resistance by some people to utilize weblogs. i think it may come down to the rules of matter / physics / time. We cannot destroy matter. There are only so many hours in a day; there is only so much time. IF someone wants to add something, something else must be given up. -People are already complaining about the amount of e-mail they must sift through. i have heard people say, "if you want to reach me, PHONE me" as opposed to e-mail. -Most people do NOT keep diaries / journals. Yes, they have day-books, PDA's etc but prose writing of one's thoughts is rare. -Having a RadioUserland type of channel is great to keep track of news events, people's weblogs, etc BUT are we overloading ourselves, and filling our time as a society with information and self-publishing when we could be "DOING" or "ACTING"? Yes, yes, information may lead to appropriate action BUT sometimes i think we spread ourselves too thin and try to get involved with too much instead of concentrating on a few areas. i remember when i lived in Europe for two years and met some older master craftsmen, they said, "ah yes, you North Americans, jack of all trades and master of nothing". -So, what has this to do with weblogs....well, do people have enought time for them? What will they have to cut out of their lives to effectively fit weblogs in? Hmmmm... [daniel News]11:56:48 PM | # | |

We had a great facilitators session this week. Although Joanne did spend some time speaking about different ways in which we learn, most of the time we listened to the facilitators (and the one instructor who came, Alexandre) for their comments on how the workshops are going. Most of these comments will be concatenated by Joanne and I and sent out by email to everybody, but I'll highlight a few things here:
[Sounds Great!!!]
