« You got some nerve... »
I'm off to play a gig tonight for a private function in New Jersey. This will be my first performance since carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand. Based on my practicing, I think it will likely be fine, but I'm sure I will be tired and a bit sore afterward. Actually, since I started playing again, I'm noticing the impairment in my left hand more acutely; I have carpal tunnel problems in that hand as well, but not as severely as I had in my right hand. Next week the doctor and I will assess that and probably decide a course of action. I have the option of having the same surgery as before, or getting a big shot of cortisone right into the affected area. I'm leaning toward the cortisone, since I'm not thrilled about having more surgery. We will also have to make a decision on how to deal with the ulnar nerve subluxation in my right arm — carpal tunnel syndrome was only part of the problem.
