Well, we use botulin toxin to get rid of wrinkles. This at least does something important. If it turns out to be 10,000 times more potent than morphine, this could be very exciting.  2:32:25 PM

There are plagues in China. Not a good time to be a farmer.  2:16:00 PM

Redmond firm completes $5 million funding round. REDMOND -- Vanson HaloSource, a Redmond-based bioscience firm, has completed a series B round of funding, which has raised $5 million. Investors in the round included two Seattle venture capital funds -- Alexander Hutton Venture Partners and Buerk Craig Victor LLC -- and an offshore company called Britannia Holdings Ltd. [Business]

I love the idea of a biotech company providing pool supplies.  2:15:14 PM

This could be a very useful technique in specific circumstances but may have to wait for general applicability.  2:12:04 PM

Weblogs are great for finding out little facts like these.  1:46:39 PM

I'll have to start my own business so I can buy one of these for it;-)  1:36:52 PM

First Weekend without a Job

Well, I get to spend my first weekend unemployed doing all sorts of fun stuff. I have to get my CV into shape since there ay be an opportunity coming up. I spent much of the last few hours trying to get my weblog set up so that it is portable between my desktop and my laptop. I'm using a 5 Gb Firefly drive I bought a few months ago. It is really cute and easy to move.

So I should have my radio site on it and can simply carry it from computer to computer. I had to jury rig somethings because, while it updated the radio root on the firefly, it updated the www folder on the laptop. I tried using the script to fix paths but I got errors so I just worked around it (i.e. renamed the paths on the hard drives). Let's see if it works.  1:19:47 PM

I should never try to type fast late at night. I just spent about 30 minutes correcting spelling errors. Not the most fun ;-)  12:57:49 PM
