The Invisible Gun. Stuart K. Hayashi at The Hawaii Reporter - The Invisible Gun - very well done description of the fact that every law points a gun at somebody's head, and why this is very wrong. [market] [End the War on Freedom]

The article talks about laws and regulations, but this applies to taxes as well. When the government collects taxes, they are saying, "give us the money we demand or you will be beaten or killed, and your property stolen." When non-government employees do this, it's called extortion.

The Horrible Logic of (Youth) Victim Disarmament. George Justin Mallone at anti-state.com - The Horrible Logic of (Youth) Victim Disarmament - kids have a right to defend themselves. Of course. Kids and guns. Kids and guns. Kids and guns. [smith2004] [End the War on Freedom]

For unless one values one's conclusion that "guns are icky and dangerous" over the right to life of one's own flesh and blood, one cannot make a serious argument that a personal dislike of firearms is a valid moral basis for denying one's children the ability to carry them.

Symantec stock closed at $41.95 on Friday, which is a record high (taking the recent stock split into account). At this point my options, which were granted at an earlier record, are actually worth a respectable amount. Unfortunately, exercising them is not an easy task. I had to fill out a paper form and send it by snail mail!

Supposedly it will take two or three weeks from the day the form arrives to open an account, so that I can exercise my options. However, I've heard from co-workers that sometimes things go wrong and add considerable delays. Since the stock price shot up for no apparent reason (certainly Symantec didn't do anything special at that time), I'm afraid that by the time all the bureaucratic nonsense is out of the way my options will go back to being worthless.

Somehow I doubt that our CEO, when he grants himself options at $6.50/share, has to wade through so much bureaucracy ’n order to use them.

I was able to add an entity pop-up menu to nHTML. It turned not to be that hard, although there is a graphical glitch that I couldn't figure out. I sent the modified source code to Adam Tow, the original author. He said that he would put the modified version up on his site for download. I don't know how many people use nHTML besides me, but I hope someone gets some use out of it.
