If you are not using the Google toolbar in your browser, get it.  One of the best items on it is the PageRank meter.  It provides immediate info on how well your site is doing in popularity.  When you pass your mouse over it, a number will be displayed.  However, more granular info is available via green bar under the word: P-a-g-e-R-a-n-k.  The scale looks like it is logarithmic.  That means that each number in popularity, or letter in the visual display, is ten times greater in popularity than the one previous.  For example, my site is a full "R" or ten times more popular than a full "e" my site was rated three months ago.  Very cool.  [John Robb's Radio Weblog]

I'd probably download this and try it out myself if there was a Mac version. It sounds interesting. But of course there's not a Mac version.

"San Francisco Chronicle" - Anonymous browsing returns.

Under the new system, data will make only one pass through a server run by Zero-Knowledge. Web sites still wouldn't know the user, but employees at Zero- Knowledge would.

[Privacy Digest]

Of course, if Zero-Knowledge knows what you're browsing, then anyone they give or sell the information also knows. It's really not anonymous at all.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Whether his case is frivolous or not, officials responded to the hunger strike and agreed to a hearing.

Those government officials are liars and dishonourable men. Their word is of no value and is meaningless. Their promises are as solid as a treaty by the Great White Father with the American Indians. That is the judgement I do make and will stand by. [Libertarian Samizdata]

I think it's a little strange that someone writing for a libertarian website is so bothered by the officials lying. Of course they lied, they're government officials. It's their job to lie, all day, every day. The representatives of We The People were foolish to believe them, just as any Indian would be foolish to trust a treaty with the US government.

Apple to open store in Los Angeles [MacNN]

It will be located at The Grove, a new shopping center next to Farmer's Market on Fairfax. It's in the middle of the city, a few miles from where I live. According to the newspaper, it opens today.
