The Steel Ripoff. The idea here is to help one inefficient, bloated, and pampered industry at the expense of all U.S. consumers of steel, including U.S. businesses, and all producers in Europe, Asia, Brazil, and Australia. Up to 30 Palestinians and six Israelis are killed as the Israeli army mounts its biggest ground offensive for 20 years. [BBC News: world] Sharon has exercised uncharacteristic restraint, but now the Israelis are fighting back effectively. It's been obvious from the beginning that the only hope of stopping the terrorists is to get them before they strike, and now that's finally happening.
