Rumors of War.

If the Guardian is to be believed -- caveat lector! -- Bush has blocked Rumsfeld's push to expand the war to Syria. We'll see.

The Guardian is hardly likely to give Bush the benefit of the doubt, so maybe this is true. Or maybe Bush just wants them to think it is. At any rate, if the government does decide to conquer Syria, we'll probably get a barrage of propaganda for six months ahead of time just as we did with Iraq.

First SARS Test Hits Labs. A German company begins distributing the first commercial diagnostic for SARS, providing an urgently needed test that can produce results in just two hours. [Wired News]

It's a good thing not all countries are subject to the FDA, or it would be another ten years before this company was allowed to distribute its test.
