Kicking Your A** and Making No Bones About it. In Bakersfield, California, the Police State wants you to know of and understand its existence. A Sheriff's Department patrol car has a decal on the side that says "We'll kick your ass." Read the article. Fascist tyrants.... [LewRockwell.com Blog]

Here's one theory on what was behind this, from the article:

Department insiders describe Wimbish [the Sheriff] as the odd man out, he may just be trying to fit in, with a little locker-room humor and cop-shop shenanigans.

That says quite a bit about the sort of people who become cops in Bakersfield. It's also significant (and depressing) that the reporter doesn't find anything remarkable or objectionable about the idea.

AP: Iraq to Stop Counting Civilian Dead [AP World News]

Iraqi Health Ministry officials ordered a halt to a count of civilian casualties from the war and told workers not to release figures already compiled, the head of the ministry's statistics department told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

Such a blatant coverup may not do as much good as the Feds and their Iraqi puppets might like--there are still independent organizations compiling this information.

Free Speech Defeat.

The Supremes have upheld key parts of the terrible "Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act," including the soft money ban and restrictions on political ads just prior to elections.
