Gun Owners of America -
California Race Could Retire Notorious Gun Grabber - boot
Barbara Boxer. Elect
Howard Kaloogian as U.S. senator from California. Campaign
donations requested. [kaba]
As a state assemblyman, Kaloogian earned a solid "A" rating from Gun
Owners of California. He has fought for the gun rights of Californians
for years, and I have no doubt he will continue to fight for your
rights after he is elected to the U.S. Senate.
Even if you don't live in California, his election to the U.S. Senate
will mean more freedom for all those who cherish the Second
Amendment.
Kaloogian is, by far, the best pro-gun candidate in this
primary. Millions of dollars will be spent to elect the next senator
from California. Kaloogian needs your help to get his name in front of
every pro-gun voter in the state.
From Mr. Kaloogian's
issues page:
Second Amendment:
I believe that the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United
States guarantees the right of individual law-abiding Americans to own
and use the firearms of their choice. I oppose any new restrictions on
the right of citizens to possess firearms because there are enough new
laws on the books. I believe that President Clinton's flawed and
unworkable 1994 gun ban legislation, which attempted to impose
restrictions on some weapons, should be allowed to expire in 2004 as
scheduled. The answer to gun violence in our country is to focus on
the criminal use of firearms in the commission of a crime and enforce
the laws that punish those criminals.
[End the War on Freedom]
I won't be voting for him. Although a candidate's position on the Second Amendment is the first thing I look at, it's not the only thing--and Kaloogian looks pretty bad on some other important issues. For example, he's openly homophobic and anti-abortion. And although his issues page is vague on his foreign policy position, in an article on his site he writes, "I believe [Bush] has been a terrific wartime president."
