We will win the war...
But, will we win the peace?
I sit here planning to watch Bush give his speech tonight. We stand at the brink of war, and it looks like there is no turning back. I have been opposed to fighting Iraq, what I have always disliked is the way that this administration has gone out of it's way to tick off nearly every other country. G W 'Cowboy' Bush is becoming the most internationally unpopular President ever. In one poorly thought out soundbite (Axis of Evil) he unraveled years of progress with North Korea and Iran.
The invasion of Kuwait and the entrance of China into the Korean Conflict wer both examples of American arrogance, and diplomatic stupidity. In both we talked with the other side and completly misread the meaning of what they said. Now we have set our selves on a course with one ignorant soundbite.
It is the furture that I worry about, the impact that this event will have on our future relations does not look good. All I can say is, we better find a lot of 'Weapons of Mass Destruction' when this is all done. We had better make a real effort to rebuild Iraq. The question is, will we get the chance? The slope we are standing on is greased and ready...mj
