An Unanswered Question.
What is with designers and programmers and the written word? It’s as if they’re blind to words, to the stuff their graphics and coding supports and conveys.
I don’t think I’ve ever met a graphic designer who could spell, and when they write their own text for their own websites the use of the language, and such fundamentals as grammar and punctuation, is quite often beyond appalling.
I’ve found designers also tend to be deaf to requests to correct text, so now I try to appeal to their visual sensibility by making a screenshot of the offending item, and then adding a very visible note next to it. The effect is similar to stickies on the Macintosh, or the annotation function in Adobe Acrobat.
Doing it this way has proven to be more effective than any number of phone calls and emails.
Do-it-yourself stickies. I make a screenshot of the dodgy text, then make a graphic annotation in FireWorks.
