The Perils of Publishing.
Publishing—upstreaming—in Radio 8 continues to take a long time to occur from the time you write the piece then hit the Publish button until the time it appears on your weblog. It still takes hours, and sometimes days, and I am following all the instructions.
I am wondering though if I should look at other software options. UserLand keeps updating the software, so I hope they will do something about this soon.
The time lag takes all the spontaneity and joy out of this thing, though.

UIWeb.com: Leadership In Collaboration.
Great website pointed to by Tomalak’s Realm containing some thoughtful articles about user interfaces, information architecture and the user experience, amongst other things.
Leadership In Collaboration: Film Making and Interaction Design reminds me of a discussion I had a couple of years ago with Andy Polaine, formerly of antirom, the interactive design firm that was sharing premises with Tomato, until antirom dissolved due to the members having to do everything from conception to production and run a viable firm.
Our talk was about other paradigms for the web and multimedia design and collaboration process than the traditional and still-too-popular graphic design studio role model. Given the now obvious failings of the graphic design studio model given the realities of the web as a publishing medium and not simply a design medium, there is a great deal to be said of exploring how filmmakers do it. Not to mention print magazines and book publishers.
Andy was originally a film student, and we concluded there was a good case for the Director role in both the web and multimedia projects, as someone embodying the guiding principle and creative vision. They would need knowledge of both design and the technology to deliver it, with responsibility for content being prime. Content meaning narrative, story, text, imagery, voice, sound, and so on.
