I am kinda sorry I missed seeing Training Day when it had a brief run in Sydney, but I really did not want to see a movie where Denzel Washington plays the bad guy for once.
For me, Denzel is The Good Man, the man who shows us how to be good, honourable and right, in the same way Sidney Poitier did in all his movies. Both of them are role models.
Guess I will be adding Training Day to the list of DVDs to get when they come out.

I am suggesting that the two general classes of web workers—designers and developers/programmers—be joined by a completely new one, to ensure that the web evolves in a more useful and sustainable manner in the next few years.
Call them “Content Director” or whatever other job title works for everyone, this new class of people will be multimedia storytellers, with the emphasis on story and their origins perhaps in writing. The Web is a medium like any other in that story is prime, but somehow it was colonized by designers and programmers early in the piece and with the exception of news organisation websites storytellers did not get a look in.
But, imagine what the other media, books, TV, film and so on, would be like if there were no storytellers and instead they were made entirely by art directors, designers, production people and technicians. Bizarre thought, to say the least.

The CV currently on this site is out of date and so I am writing a new one. One version as a PDF, and a new Word version for those who cannot handle PDFs.
New versions coming any day now, or you can ask me to email them to you as soon as they are completed, using the email link at lower right of this page.

Channel 9 Perth is showing a delayed broadcast of the Academy Awards right now. I am a sucker for movie industry awards nights, although I prefer the BAFTAs and the Golden Globes to the Oscars.
It’s the celebration of all that talent, especially Australian talent, and the reminder that great storytelling is what makes great movies, but all the other stuff certainly helps.
I am off to an Apple seminar in Bentley tonight so this broadcast right now is my chance to watch the thing right through.
NOTE: Looks like I am not going to that seminar tonight. What I thought was a delayed broadcast of the awards this AM turns out to be the red carpet broadcast. It stopped as soon as the ceremony itself was about to begin.
