Scott Johnson writes about his frustrations with online job sites. I thought I was the only jobseeker who detests these things.
Scott has most helpfully posted his 16 Tips on his site, although he has not succeeded in finding himself a job yet.

I came across this website via a story on founder Andy Patrick at Anita Roddick’s website.
FiftyCrows uses technology as a tool to enable a truly democratic process, through which every person can have his or her voice heard and communities can come together to solve the problems that plague our world’s social, environmental, and political systems.

Maya Complete, formerly priced at $7,500 will now sell for $1,999 and Maya Unlimited, which formerly sold for $16,000 will be priced at $6,999.
It had to happen, and it was so obvious I predicted it here. Maya has now reached the same price point as Lightwave and Max. This makes it more affordable for the many Mac owners who have neede to add 3D capability to their creative arsenal but who could not afford Maya before.
The Mac had never been considered a mainstream 3D platform and, while many designers and artists would have loved to get into the 3D world, the entry ticket was considered too steep. However, with Maya’s new pricing structure, things will certainly change.
True enough. Pity about the way Maya PLE has the viewpoint windows overlaid with that horrible watermarking, making it difficult to see what you are doing in it. With this price drop, though, people are more likely to bypass Maya PLE and go straight to purchasing the product.

It was the hereditary concept itself which produced a woman who symbolised and endorsed luxury and idleness in personal life, philistinism in culture, ruthlessness in eugenics and reaction in politics.
Christopher Hitchens provides an antidote to the inevitable sentimentality on the occasion of the Queen Mother’s death.

I knew I was back in the writing vein when I semi-consciously pulled out my stack of Underworld CDs and MP3s and whacked them next to the CD player.
I had been partly prompted by the news that Underworld’s next album is complete and due for release in the UK in September.
I find their music to be the best to write to. It induces a sense of being beyond time and space, adrift in an ocean of thought. That and the fact that some of their many remixes available on disk or as MP3s from their UnderworldLive can reach 20 minutes in length.
September, huh? I hope the guys release some stuff off the album before then. That’s a long time to wait.
