LiveMotion or Flash?
An illustrator friend phoned just now, to discuss his learning Flash. He is a whizz with Illustrator, and is currently using Illustrator 10.
Although I have yet to lay hands on review copies of either product, Flash MX and LiveMotion 2, on the evidence so far I had no hesitation in recommending he obtain a copy of LiveMotion 2 instead of Flash MX. Much more appropriate for the needs of a graphic artist who will need to do fairly minimal scripting but plenty of animation.
Once he gets his animations done with LiveMotion 2 and Illustrator 10, and wants to build the rest of his new site as a fully Flash production, then I will recommend Flash MX, most likely. But not before then. He has already tried dipping in to Flash 5 and the interface was enough to put him off.
