Spammers and scammers - how stupid do they think we are?

I just received an e-mail with the following subject line:
YOUR PAYPAL ACCOUNT EXPIRES.

The body of the mail includes:

We are taking these actions because we are implementing a new security policy on our website to insure everyone's absolute privacy. To avoid any interruption in PayPal services then you will need to run the application that we have sent with this email (see attachment) and follow the instructions. Please do not send your personal information through email, as it will not be as secure.

Full text here.

So, whoever sent this spam expects me to run an attached executable file because they tell me I should. The executable will then presumably ask me to enter loads of personal information, destination Zarquon knows where.

It reminds me of the Irish Computer Virus.

Time for a Dogbert exorcism.

I'm starting work on my latest self-help book

After the disappointing sales of my previous book (I'm OK, You're Completely Screwed Up, You Freak), I've taken the time to do lots of research this time. It can't fail. I can't tell you too much about it at the moment, but the title is The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Cheese.
