Tomalak's Realm -> Wired News: Creative Types: A Lot in Common. On Monday, Creative Commons will release its collection of free, machine-readable licenses. The idea is to give copyright holders another way to get the word out that their works are free for copying and other uses under specific conditions.

80211b News -> FCC approves Vivato's antennas: Vivato received a splash of attention a few weeks ago with the demonstration of their phased-array antenna, a device which can essentially create individual focused beams of Wi-Fi access that follow devices as they roam. Their technique apparently offers a cost-effective way to light up entire buildings and offer long-haul wireless service.

Boing Boing Blog -> Creative Commons licenses are live. Dav sez: "Creative Commons Licenses are now online! Creative Commons provides a point and click interface that allows an artist to define the copyright license that she wants (commercial vs non-commercial, attribution requirements, etc). There is also an online process that allows the artist to donate her work to the public domain with no strings attached." The launch party is tomorrow night, but I guess they wanted to get a head-start. I'm releasing my novel, Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom, under a CC license on January 9, simultaneous with the hardcover release. Link Discuss (Thanks, Dav!)
