Top tech trends in 2002
It wasn’t all scandals and layoffs

Link via RatcliffeBlog: Business, Technology & Investing -> The Washington Post says we bought too much "newfangled stuff" in the 1990s. Look for “Web logs,” or online diaries, to become an even bigger cultural force in 2003, when America Online is expected to launch its own Web logging tools.

Is this really true?  I wonder who's software they will be using.

3G wireless services in the U.S. - eventually

Japan's NTT Docomo and AT&T will offer third generation (3G) wireless services in the U.S. - eventually. CNet reports that services like high-speed Internet access and face-to-face video are part of the package, based on the wideband code division multiple-access (W-CDMA) format. Initial launch of the services has been delayed six months, according to Yahoo News, until December 2004, and the target market has changed from 13 to 4 cities (San Francisco, Seattle, Dallas and San Diego). According to Yahoo, the more cautious approach "... reflects how deeply the mobile telecommunications industry has been forced to retreat as companies struggle to sign up new customers and cope with constant competitive price wars."  [Smart Mobs]
