I am seriously thinking about buying something like this for my home. The question is when will these type of devices have enough functionality for the price? I think I'll be waiting until the sub $1000.00 units have DVD burning.

Microsoft Charging Flash Drive Makers for File Format?
As reported on Dan Gillmor's eJournal, Microsoft Charging Flash Drive Makers for File Format?, Microsoft will soon be charging (taxing) manufactures of flash memory card devices $0.25 per unit or $250,000 to use the FAT filesystem in their products. Not a bad piece of extra change for Mircosoft for a technology they created back in 1976.
