Scoble tells Microsoft what's wrong with the internal weblogs
Scoble knows how to use his blog to make a point. This morning (or maybe last night) he told his management and the rest of Microsoft through his weblog why blogs won't take off behind the firewall if changes aren't made.
The internal weblogs he says aren't discoveable which prevents a community of webloggers within Microsoft to find each other. And because there is no referers links he can't tell where the traffic to his internal weblog is coming from which prevents engaging conversations.
He says "Until I see internal blogs that have referer links as well as a centralized Weblogs.Com style page, then internal blogs won't take off."
He's right!!
On another note, below is an excerpt of what he has to say about group weblogs. If your interested in group weblogs make sure you check out his weblog because his treads about group weblogs and Microsoft's internal weblogs continue there. Both treads are good examples on the tone to use to make valid points to your company and/or boss to avoid failure on a project using your weblog.
Scoble: "I don't like group weblogs." This is a current topic with me. A bunch of people I know wanted to do a group blog. I said okay give it a try. I'm watching from a distance. I prefer to write for my blog and develop a way to route posts to categories so readers can assemble their own group blogs out of their favorite authors (of which I hope to be one). Scoble is a pundit and a very wise man. He's onto something. [Scripting News]
