From the MackHack Dept

From the Learning-Dept:
I'll try to take outlines for those presentations I go to.

But you'll have to wait until I get time and a stable network to do that stuff.

Some good stuff in there anyway.

From the Hmm Dept
My wxWindows presentation tommorrow (at noon) is in the Rome/Venice room - the big, keynote room.

At least i know where that is... But, hmmm... the big room.... wonder if that means there could be a lot of people, or if there will be 3 people and lots of empty space.

We'll just have to see I guess.

From the At-The-Hack Dept:
Ken Arnold is didd the keynote presentation...

(Oh yeah, the whole unsanity team seems to be here at the Hack... and as for progress on my hack, it's progressing at a decent pace)

Now the keynote (Designing For Change: Lessons and Questions in Object Network Design)

  • Woh... Ken Arnold wrote Rouge... and JINI, but....
  • Design - everybody talks about it, but everybody has a different idea as to how it's done
  • Design books tend to be Uber-Geeky or Super-Dumbed-Down - not many between
  • Sometimes you're not sitting in front of computers designing
  • Designs: Large scale design that's easy to see, and then let the details come out
  • Programmers Are People
  • What is good design? It works, It's Not About Truth or Justice - we are building things that People Actually Use
  • Ask: Is it Needed? Am I using Inheritance? Could I use Successive Revelation?

But oh man, I've only got 30 minutes of battery...
