I was inspired by this quote that I read in an article on XML.com:

Berners-Lee said that the most innovative periods of the Web's history were composed of open source development. "The Web's critical growth period involved only what we now call 'open source' software," Berners-Lee said. "In fact one of the challenges early on was to get industry interested," he added, "because there was a community which would not take it seriously unless they could get software from a company."

diveintomark: Multiple Radio Installations

Mark discusses several options for remote access to Radio, as well as security. What happens if/when someone finds a remote exploit for Radio? Security is one of the drawbacks of P2P and web apps. Expose the wrong service, and bad code could make you SOL.

Dave mentioned that Vignette, the company that makes overpriced content management software, was worth $1.5B a year ago today, and now the net worth is just over half of that, $830M. Vignette recently made an appearance on FC.
