Back in town Just got back from an interesting (mostly last minute) trip up to Sun. Lot's of interesting information and I'm not quite certain right now what was NDA'd and what was not. I'm going to need to get some clarification there.
JAX-RPC is the new religion. They're working hard on interop across the board (with Microsoft, IBM and Apache 'pieces' being the focus). I saw some interesting looks when I started talking about JBoss (the WebSphere folks were willing to play along and be nice when the subject came up a couple weeks ago). Sun talked about expanding the number of platforms for iPlanet but they hadn't thought about MacOS X yet (or just didn't want to say no). If it runs on every developers platform of choice, it's easier to get it into production, even if it replaces another application server. I think they mostly get it, but the Apple/UNIX combination is still a little hard to swallow.
Lots of notes to finish typing up and a couple of images to create. I've also got a nice (not) airport story to scribble down when I finish with the important stuff.
